Habitat selection by two focal species
This project studies two species, the Golden-tailed gecko and Glossy black-cockatoo, to assess the range of impacts from CSG development in south-west Queensland on their habitat.
The project provided management options for the Golden-tailed gecko and Glossy black-cockatoo habitats to ensure their long-term endurance.

The research involved desktop (assembling available records and carrying out bioclimatic modelling) and field‐based components for both species. Five management recommendations management recommendations for the golden‐tailed gecko and seven recommendations for the glossy black‐cockatoo were developed.
The golden-tailed gecko: a disturbance-tolerant species in a fragmenting environment
In central Queensland, Australia, the development of a coal-seam gas (CSG) industry is creating additional fragmentation of landscapes consisting of woodland and open forest that are already highly fragmented. The aim of this research was to assess the response to fragmentation of Strophurus taenicauda (golden-tailed gecko). The species is ‘near threatened’ in Queensland.
