Land and infrastructure
Research under the land and infrastructure management theme will cover projects associated with the assessment of seismicity, legacy issues and any other impacts from gas-related infrastructure. A key area of research focus will explore issues related to planning for decommissioning of onshore gas wells and other infrastructure. Details of current research projects are available via the links below.
Baseline seismic monitoring of the Canning Basin, WA
Measuring natural seismic activity in the Canning Basin
Background seismicity in the Beetaloo Sub-basin
Background seismicity and estimating seismic hazards in the Beetaloo, NT
Beetaloo basin shale long-term competency after decommissioning
Assessing the long-term sealing competency of the Beetaloo basin after gas well decommissioning
Review of cements, steels and microbial activity for Qld CSG wells
This project will collate details on materials used in well casings and cements from information contained within Well Completion Reports. It will also review information on microbial activity in related geological formations from published papers and CSIRO studies.
