Socio-economic impacts of onshore gas activity in Southern Queensland
This fact sheet describes the outcomes of a CSIRO research project which evaluated demographic and economic changes during two decades of onshore gas operations in rural regions of Queensland, Australia.
CSIRO researchers explored and analysed secondary data, primarily from 2011 to 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Population Census, to identify and evaluate impacts that natural gas extraction could have had in communities across these regions during the last two decades (2001 – 2011 and 2011 – 2021).
