Developing a baseline assessment of the biodiversity of the Canning Basin in Western Australia

This fact sheet describes results of a CSIRO research project designed to develop a baseline assessment of the biodiversity of the Canning Basin in Western Australia.

This research identifies plants and animals that occur in the Canning Basin, including species and threatened ecological communities of conservation or cultural significance, and identifies knowledge gaps and options for further investigation.

Results confirm that the Canning Basin is a region that is poorly sampled but supports a high richness of plants and
animals – a large proportion of which are significant from cultural and conservation perspectives.
